Arapey (Ah-ra-pay) is a contemporary modern typeface with some Bodoni characteristics, but the structures, smooth lines, and finishes leave a feeling of calm and distinction. The first sketches were made during a vacation in Arapey, a small town in northern Uruguay, a place of inspiration, where time seems to stop, giving us a space to make us reflect on the chosen design decisions and if they will reflect the same feelings that gives us the landscape where it was created.

A variable font is a collection of master styles, with one central ‘default’ master (usually the Regular font style) and multiple ‘axes’ which tie the central master to the other masters. For example, the Weight axis might connect a Light style master to the default style and through to the Bold style master. The individual styles that can be located along this axis are called instances.
Many axes control just one aspect of a typeface But the Optical Size axis goes a step further, and factors in additional changes depending on the size of the font. At smaller sizes, the letterspacing opens up, x-height increases, and contrast decreases to allow for easier reading.

The bridge was manufactured in Germany and its construction and assembly in Uruguay was under the supervision of engineer Juan T. Smith.
The North Western system consisted of 182 kilometres (113 mi) of standard gauge railway, extending from Salto, the terminus of the Midland Uruguay Railway, in a general northerly direction to Palomas, Cabellos, where connections were made with the Uruguay Northern Railway, and Cuareim, opposite Barra do Quaraí, Brazil.
